PANORA, IOWA — The Lake Panorama Par 3 Golf Course was the site Thursday of a Class 1A cross country state qualifier, with the host Panthers sending their small list of runners around the familiar circuit.
Logan-Magnolia (39), AC/GC (75) and South Hamilton (105) were the top three girls teams to finish, with AC/GC (43), Ogden (65), and IKM-Manning (124) the top trio on the boys side. A total of 83 girls and 92 boys ran in the event.
Lo-Ma sisters Courtney and Madison Sporrer were 1-2 for the girls in 19 minutes, 49 seconds and 20:06, respectively, with Boyer Valley harrier Mariah Falkana third in 21:06.
For the boys the top threesome included Trevin Suhr of AC/GC (16:44), Ethan Loutzenheiser of Madrid (17:13) and Doug Berg of Nodaway Valley (17:19).
Senior Payton Beckman was the top finisher for the Panorama girls after crossing 20th in 22:37. Fellow senior Leah Fett was 37th in 24:16, with sophomore Avery Bahrenfuss 59th in 26:12.
Avery Norman was 44th for the Panther boys in 20:49 while Laine Christe was 88th in 25:06. Norman is a senior, Christe a freshman.
The 1A State Meet will be held Oct. 30 at Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge.
