GOWRIE — The new wrestling season opened with a lopsided win, a narrow victory and a loss by the Panorama grapplers, who hit the mats at a quadrangular hosted by Southeast Valley Tuesday.
The Panthers were 48-12 winners over Coon Rapids-Bayard while slipping past host SE Valley, 37-36. They were upended, 42-30, by NW Webster.
Wyatt Appleseth was 3-0 with a trip of pins at 160 pounds for Panorama, with Logan Christe 3-0 at 120 with wins by fall, major decision (12-0) and decision (4-0).
Emry Colby (145) also had three wins, recording two pins and a forfeit while Landon Goodenberger (170) was 3-0 at 170 with a pin, a 9-4 decision and a forfeit.
Cooper Anderson (182) was 2-1 with a pair of pins, James Hein (285) 2-0 with a pin and a 7-0 decision and Brayden Hoffman 2-2 at 126 with both wins via forfeit.
Ryan Fees (152) had a pin while finishing 1-2, with Keyton Van Gundy 1-1 at 195 with a pinfall victory while losing by fall when stepping up to 220 against NW Webster.
Panorama will join a 12-team field at the Treynor Invitational Saturday before being joined by West Central Valley for a WCAC triangular at Van Meter Tuesday. They will then make the long trip for their annual appearance at the Central Decatur Tourney Dec. 13.
