PANORA — The Panorama boys basketball team reached the Class 2A Substate 8 Final this season, posting records of 17-7 overall and of 12-4 in WCAC play along the way.

Four of the players who made those results possible have been honored with inclusion on All-WCAC teams, with senior Malachi Peasley also named to the All-Substate 8 Team.

Only statistics produced in league play are used for consideration of All-WCAC honors.

Peasley was an unanimous All-WCAC First Team selection, with Kolby Shackelford named to the Second Team while Michael Allen and Zach Rizzuti were both chosen for Honorable Mention recognition. Rizzuti is a junior, the others are seniors.

A scoring average of 15.9 points per game, 82 total assists, 15 steals and only 31 turnovers fueled Peasley’s honor. He sank 37-of-90 (41.1 percent) 3-point attempts and was a stout 72-of-86 (83.7 percent) at the foul line.

Peasley was among the state leaders (all games included) at the charity stripe. He was second in 2A in 125 free throws made and seventh in attempted foul shots with 144. His 86.8 percent accuracy was second-best in 2A among those with a minimum of 80 attempts, with that clip fifth-best among all classes.

Shackelford averaged 11.6 points per game. He shot 76.3 percent (29-of-38) at the foul line and 40 percent (36-of-90) beyond the 3-point arc.

Allen posted averages of 7.8 points of and 5.7 rebounds per contest and had nine blocked shots. He had 38 assists and 17 steals as well.

Rizzuti scored at an 11.9 ppg clip while pulling down 5.1 caroms per game. The junior had 40 assists and 17 steals, converted on 29-of-68 (42.6 percent) 3-pointers, and splashed 42-of-49 (85.7 percent) at the charity stripe.

Peasley’s All-Substate 8 honor came after he scored 66 points, collected 12 rebounds, distributed 12 assists and came away with seven thefts in three games. He was 19-of-21 (90.4 percent) at the foul line during those contests.

The Panthers are coached by Nic Peasley.
