GUTHRIE CENTER — The Panorama softball team finished win-loss-win Saturday at the AC/GC tourney to place third in the eight-team event.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]

The Panthers (8-6) opened play by defeating Audubon (4-13), 11-0, in a five-inning quarterfinal. That set up a semifinal against Underwood (14-5), with the Eagles prevailing, 11-8.

AC/GC (7-9) had defeated Boyer Valley (6-9), 12-2, and West Harrison (13-7) had topped MVAO/COU (10-13) on the top half of the bracket, with a 6-0 win by AC/GC over West Harrison sending the hosts to the title bout against Underwood, who captured the crown with a 2-1 win.

West Harrison became the opponent for Panorama in the third place game, and the Panthers jumped out to an early lead en route to a 9-2 victory.

Coon Rapids-Bayard (10-3) had fallen to Underwood (score n/a) in the first round, but bounced back to beat Audubon, 6-4, with MVAO/COU a 10-5 winner over Boyer Valley. Audubon was a 15-2 winner over Boyer Valley in the seventh place game, with no score reported for the fifth place contest between CR-B and MVAO/COU.

Panorama did all their damage against Audubon in the fourth inning, with 11 runners eventually crossing the plate.

Kellie Prince had a single and two doubles while scoring twice, with Vallerie Storesund driving in a run and smacking three singles. Kennedy Andersen had a single, a double and three RBIs, with a single and three RBIs from Hannah Woodworth also sparking the charge.

Olivia Richey walked five and struck out seven in four innings on the rubber, with Grace Richey pitching a 1-2-3 fifth to finish off the shortened no-hitter.

Panorama was the visitor against Underwood and held a 4-3 lead until the Eagles suddenly took flight for eight runs in the bottom of the fifth. The Panthers scored four runs in the seventh, but it was not enough to avoid the loss.

Prince had the hot bat again, launching a home run and adding a double and a single while driving home four runs and scoring twice. Shey Storesund had three hits and three runs, with Sydney Vogel scoring twice while Olivia Richey and Ashley Clark each scored once.

Grace Richey pitched four innings, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks while sitting four batters down on strikes. Olivia Richey threw 2/3 of an inning in relief, surrendering eight runs on three hits and four walks. Prince finished up with 1-1/3 frames of work, allowing one hit and walking one.

Four Panorama runs in the top of the second and four more in the fifth helped fuel the 9-2 win over West Harrison in the third place contest.

Grace Richey went the distance. She walked three and allowed nine hits in seven innings, but held the Hawkeyes to only two runs and finished with three strikeouts.

Anderson had three hits and Lydia Knapp two, with Shey Storesund and Hannah Woodworth driving in two runs apiece while Clark, Vallerie Storesund and Nicole Rolfes all had one RBI apiece.

Panorama hosts Des Moines Christian tonight before playing a doubleheader at Earlham Tuesday and visiting Ogden Wednesday for a rescheduled game. A home game against Saydel is slated for Thursday.
