Panorama softball wins two of three Saturday

AUDUBON — Panorama bounced back from a quarterfinal loss Saturday to score two wins on the consolation side and claim fifth place at the Audubon/AC-GC Tournament.

West Harrison held off Panorama for a 4-3 win in the quarterfinals. Panorama responded by defeating Audubon, 12-6, in the consolation semifinals before crushing Coon Rapids-Bayard, 13-0, in four innings in the fifth-place game.

The Panthers trailed the Hawkeyes, 3-0, before scoring twice to close their opening round contest to within a run. West Harrison scored in the fifth to push the score to 4-2, with a single run in the sixth all Panorama could scratch across in falling, 4-3.

Grace Richey pitched seven innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on eight hits. She recorded three strikeouts.

Lydia Knapp had two hits and a RBI, with Shey Storesund scoring one run and driving in another. Kennedy Andersen, Lindsay VanGundy, Vallerie Storesund, Jasmyn Sellers, Olivia Richey and Ashley Clark also had hits, with Olivia Richey and Sellers scoring once each.

Panorama posted a 12-6 win over Audubon in their second game of the tourney, a contest shortened to five frame due to a time limit.

Cassidy Hoehne allowed five runs (all unearned) on two walks and a strikeout in just two-thirds of an inning. Grace Richey yielded one run on seven hits in 4-1/3 frames to pick up the win.

Andersen drove in four runs with a double and two single, with Knapp adding a double, a triple and three runs along with a RBI while Sellers had two runs, two RBIs and two doubles.

The final game was all Panthers, with Knapp allowing just two walks and three hits in four frames while striking out six.

She helped her own situation with two triples and a single, driving in two runs and scoring twice. Knapp was excellent all day, finishing a combined 7-of-10 with three singles, a double and three triples. She walked once, stole a base, drove in two runs and scored five times.

Anderesen did her part to help the Panthers, belting two doubles and tallying three RBIs.

Panorama (7-12 overall) hosts Madrid Monday before entertaining Earlham Thursday for a varsity doubleheader. All three games are WCAC contests.
