Panorama splits pair at Southeast Valley tourney

HARCOURT — Panorama topped Coon Rapids-Bayard, 9-6, to win the consolation title at the Southeast Valley tournament Saturday. The win followed a 10-3 opening round loss to Glidden-Ralston.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]

SE Valley was a 7-0 winner over CR-B in the other first round game, then topped G-R, 3-2, in the title contest.

G-R (9-5) led, 7-2, after two innings in Panorama’s first game. The Wildcats made it 10-2 with a run in the third frame and two more in the fourth, with the Panthers scoring once in the bottom of the fourth to set the final score. The game ended after five innings due to a time limit.

Olivia Richey allowed 10 runs (six earned) on eight hits in 3-2/3 innings while struggling with her control and walking 11 batters. She finished with two strikeouts. Grace Richey relieved, tossing 1-1/3 frames of one hit, one strikeout ball.

Kennedy Andersen had a single, a double and two RBIs for Panorama (3-5), with Shey Storesund, Kellie Prince, and Grace Richey each hitting a single. Lydia Knapp, Sydney Vogel, and Prince scored the Panther runs, with Claire Woodworth providing the other RBI.

Talia Schon pitched three innings and Avery Schlabach two for G-R. The former allowed three hits and three walks and the latter two hits and one walk. Schlabach struck out two, with Schon allowing all three runs.

Schon and Schlabach each hit two singles for the Wildcats, with Jessica Eighmy providing a single, a home run and three RBIs while Gretchen Wallace drove in two runs with a triple.

Grace Richey went all seven innings on the rubber in the second game, yielding six runs (three earned) on 12 hits and three walks.

Panorama scored three times in the first, then twice in the third after CR-B (6-2) had touched home once in their first at-bat. Three runs in the fourth pushed the Panthers into an 8-1 advantage, but the Crusaders scored once in the fourth and twice in the fifth to close to within 8-4.

The Panthers added a run to their tally in the seventh, with two Crusader tallies in their final trip to the plate setting the final score.

CR-B used three pitchers, with Cora McAlister assessed the loss.

Katelyn Winnett and Kayla Lenz provided a single and a double apiece, with Lexie Davis recording two base hits while Jade Hays smacked a triple.

Knapp drove in two runs for Panorama with a double and a triple, with Hannah Woodworth adding a single and a double and Prince three singles. Storesund had two singles and Anderson one, with Prince scoring three times and Storesund twice. Anderson and Prince each had two RBIs, with Vogel and Grace Richey driving in one run each.

Panorama travels to AC/GC tonight and visits Woodward-Granger for a varsity doubleheader Thursday.
