Panorama takes two from Pleasantville in WCAC hoops

PANORA — The Panorama basketball teams each moved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in WCAC play with a sweep of visiting Pleasantville Monday.

The Class 3A sixth-ranked Panther girls had little trouble in downing the Trojans (2-3, 0-1), 65-30, with the hosts winning the boys game, 58-30, over Pleasantville (1-1, 0-1).

The homestanding girls opened a 16-8 lead after eight minutes and entered the locker room holding a 44-13 advantage. The guests could make no headway after the break in suffering the loss.

Payton Beckman led Panorama with 20 points, with Ella Waddle adding 14 points and Shey Storesund 10. Tyme Boettcher added six points, Grace Webner five, Laci Rishel and Angel Poldberg four apiece and Mia Waddle and Jaidyn Sellers one each.

Beckman made eight steals and had three rebounds and three assists, with Poldberg having four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Rishel contributed four assists and three thefts, with Waddle having three steals while Storesund and Boettcher each grabbed a trio of caroms.

Storesund made a pair of 3-point shots, with Waddle, Webner and Beckman each splashing a single trey.

The Panther boys were also off to a fast start in their victory, opening leads of 15-6 after one quarter and of 28-12 after two frames. A 19-9 run in the third stanza widened the gap to 47-21.

Lucas Leiferman had 13 points and seven assists, Drew Taylor 12 points and five boards, and Evan Taylor 10 points and eight rebounds to pace the home team. Dominic Walker contributed eight points, Zach Rizzuti seven, and Austin Block and Trent Hambleton four each.

Walker, Hambleton and Rizzuti each connected on a single 3-point shot.

Panorama returns to action Friday with a boys/girls WCAC set at Madrid.
