Panorama wrestlers divide pair at triangular

VAN METER — The Panorama wrestlers scored a 48-30 win over West Central Valley after being handed a 54-21 loss by host Van Meter/Earlham in a WCAC triangular Tuesday. VM/E was a 60-22 victor over WCV in the other match.

Eighteen of the 21 points scored by the Panthers against the hosts came on pins.

Emry Colby was victorious, in 3 minutes, 49 seconds, at 152 pounds, with James Hein a winner in two minutes at 220 while Wyatt Appleseth pinned his foe in 1:47. Appleseth is currently rated fifth at 152, but has been wrestling at 160.

The three other points came in a most dramatic fashion, as unbeaten 120-pounder Logan Christe (8-0) surprised sixth-ranked Riley Harger, 5-3.

Colby and Christe each won by pin against WCV, as did Hein, who moved up to 285 and was victorious in just nine seconds.

Brayden Hoffman won by forfeit at 126 for the Panthers against WCV, with Appleseth, Landon Goodenberger (170), Dillon Bennett (182) and Jayden Howard (195) all also winning by forfeit.

Keyton Van Gundy was unable to score at win at 195 against VM/E or at 220 against WCV, with Ryan Fees 0-2 at 145.

Panorama left 106, 113, 126, 132, 138 and 285 open against the hosts and 106, 113, 132 and 138 uncontested against WCV.

Panorama will compete Friday in the Central Decatur Invitational and will be joined by AC/GC and Ogden for a quadrangular at SE Valley (Gowrie) Dec. 19. The Panthers will host the WCAC Tournament Dec. 21.
