PANORA — Senior Bailey Beckman signed a Letter of Intent Wednesday to continue her athletic career for Dordt College.

The Panorama standout will compete for the Defenders on both the basketball floor and the track. Dordt, established in 1955, is an NAIA Division II school based in Sioux Center.

Beckman recently became Panorama’s career scoring leader and, as of Thursday, has 1,362 points, 328 rebounds, 168 assists and 252 steals. In her four years on the hardwood the Panthers are a combined 74-11 overall and 52-6 in WCAC play. The team reached the state tournament last season.

She has competed in eight events at the state track meet and once at the Drake Relays. Her contributions helped Panorama finish third in the team standings at the state meet in 2018.

Beckman holds the school record in the long jump with a flight of 17 feet, 3-1/2 inches and, with Faith Powell, Michelle Mleynek and Devyn Kemble holds the school indoor record in the 4×400. In addition, she has five conference championships and four runner-up finishes.

“Bailey is a very focused athlete,” Panorama head track coach Greg Thompson said. “Her success is due to her great morals, character and work ethic, and she has a smile on her face most of the time.”
“I will echo what I said earlier about Morgan (Johnk, who will compete in track for UNI), that I hope my daughter grows into a young woman like Bailey,” he added. “I give credit to her and her parents, Jeff and Diane.”
