DES MOINES — Panorama senior Emry Colby was one of three Panthers in action Saturday at the Corn Cob National Wrestling Tournament, which was held in the Jacobson Center on the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

Colby, who placed fourth in the Class 2A state tournament at 145 pounds, finished as the Corn Cob runner-up at 148. The bracket was for ages 15-18 regardless of school or club affiliation. Colby competed for the Viking Wrestling Club.

He began his day with a 7-2 decision over Kaleb Umbaugh of Forest City before pinning Carter Struble of West Monona in 50 seconds. He dropped a 10-3 decision to Simon Rillie, competing for Stockon Renegades, in the finals.

Fellow Panther Ryan Fees was also in action at 148, but suffered a technical fall loss against Rillie before being eliminated with a 3-0 setback to Zachariah Winslow of Lewis Central.

Panorama’s Keyton Van Gundy wrestled at 192 pounds, but dropped a pair of matches by fall to miss the podium.
