WAUKEE — Junior Kolby Shackelford fired a 2-over par 36 to lead the Panorama boys to a season opening win over Van Meter and Earlham Monday.

The Panthers finished with a 164 total score, with Van Meter second and Earlham third. Team and individual scores from the Bulldogs and Cardinals were not provided.

Lucas Leiferman drew the praise of head coach Panorama head coach David VanAhn. The sophomore started 6-6-9 to begin at 8-over, but then settled down to card six consecutive pars for a 42, earning the “lunch box” award from VanAhn for his workman-like effort.

Ryan Klinge also had a 42 for the Panthers, who used either the 44 of Dylan Douglass or the 44 of Wyatt Appleseth for their fourth score. Senior Trey Cobb was also in action, finishing with a 46.

Panorama will return to action Saturday when both the junior varsity and varsity squads visit Anita (CAM) for the Dale Erickson Memorial Invitational.
