Panther boys ground Chargers

VAN METER, Iowa — Panorama defeated conference rival AC/GC for the second time in three meetings this season, with Thursday’s victory the most key, as it advances the Panthers into the Class 2A District 15 Finals.

Panorama (15-8) was a 59-47 winner over AC/GC(17-6) to earn a Tuesday matchup with Van Meter (19-2), who defeated I-35 (7-15), 77-18, Thursday. The winners meet in Creston at 7 p.m., with the Substate 8 Final set for Feb. 26 at AC/GC, with either Treynor (19-3) or Red Oak (16-7) the opponent. All games will start at 7 p.m.

Jared Wasson led the Panthers over the Chargers with 23 points and 13 rebounds. The senior is sixth in 2A in total rebounds at 242, an average of 10.5 boards per game.

Braylen Dawes scored 12 points and Braedon Draper and Brice Taylor 10 apiece to aid the winning cause. Two points apiece from Maddox Hammerstrom and Klayton Bremer capped the Panther scoring.

Hammerstrom and Draper each pulled down seven caroms for Panorama, with Taylor distributing six assists.
