Panther boys top Chargers in WCAC play

PANORA — The ability to hold off a second-half charge allowed Panorama to post a 72-64 victory over visiting AC/GC in WCAC boys hoops Friday.

Panorama (6-1, 4-1) turned a 16-11 lead after eight minutes into a 37-26 advantage at the intermission.

AC/GC (3-2, 2-2) outscored the hosts by five points, 19-14, in the third quarter to trim their deficit to 51-45 entering the fourth quarter, but were unable to to complete the comeback.

Panorama held a decisive edge at the foul line, sinking 24-of-30 free throws as opposed to 8-of-15 for AC/GC. The Panthers connected on 6-of-14 3-point shots, with the Chargers landing just 2-of-16.

Dominic Walker had 15 points, Evan Taylor 14, and Brice Taylor 10 for the Panthers. Lucas Leiferman and Drew Taylor provided nine points apiece, with Zach Rizzuti scoring seven, Ryan Klinge six, and Trent Hambleton two.

Leiferman had eight rebounds and three assists, with Brice Taylor providing four assists.

Eli Kading had 23 points, Charlie Crawford 12, and Lucas Marsh 10 for AC/GC, with Miles Kading tallying nine points, Ben Marsh eight and Newell Rogers two.
