The Panther girls took on non-conference Nodaway Valley at home Thursday night and handily won 65-49.

Steady scoring around the arch and in the lane kept the Panthers ahead of the Wolverines.

Junior Tyme Boettcher led Panther scoring with 19 points, with freshman Morgan Crees adding 16, Zoey Hambleton 13, Jaidyn Sellers 10, Mia Waddle 6, and Jazmyn Sellers contributed 1 point.

“Our defense continues to play with intensity,” said Coach Boettcher. “We were able to hold Nodaway Valley under their team average.”

The Panther girls traveled to Van Meter on Friday to face the Bulldogs and pulled out a 38-36 win in a contest that was tough mentally and physically.

Jaidyn Sellers and Zoey Hambleton led the Panthers with 12 points each.

Panorama was down by 4 points with 3 minutes to go when Hambleton scored on an assist from Morgan Crees to put the Panthers within 2 points. Mia Waddle then stole the ball and scored, tying the game at 34-34 with 2:21 left.

Waddle looks for Crees on the 3-point line, and the freshman scored, makin the score 37-34 with 20 seconds left. Van Meter came back to hit 2 of 3 free throws and drawing within 1 point of the Panthers with 11 seconds to go.

Boettcher was fouled on a rebound and one of two free throws to put the Panthers up 38-36, and the Panthers’ defense kept the Bulldogs scoreless until the buzzer.

The Panther girls are now 13-1 overall and 10-0 in the conference play.

In boys action, the Panthers squeaked out a two-point win in overtime against the Nodaway Valley Wolverines Thursday night at home.

Scoring came from across the Panther lineup, with Braylon Dawes, Braedon Draper, Klayton Bremer and Maddox Hammerstrom all scoring in double digits and many others contributing in single digits.

Hammerstrom’s drive and goal at the buzzer to give the Panthers the victory.

On Friday the Panther boys took on the Van Meter Bulldogs in Van Meter and dropped the hard-fought game 69-63.

Three Panthers, Maddox Hammerstrom, Klayton Bremer and Braylon Dawes, scored in double digits.

Next up for the Panthers will be Tuesday night’s against West Central Valley in Stuart.
