Panther girls claim road win over Wildcats

STUART — Seventh-ranked Panorama survived a solid test from host West Central Valley Friday to claim a 60-49 win in West Central Conference girls basketball.

Each team put 16 points on the board in the first quarter, but a slight edge over the next eight minutes allowed Panorama to enter the locker room with a 30-26 edge. The lead grew to 46-38 after three minutes, and the Panthers were able to comfortably cruise to the win over the final stanza.

Kristin Culp had 15 points, five rebounds and three steals for the Wildcats, with Joelle Grubbs adding 14 points and six rebounds and Jennifer Dudley 10 points and seven caroms.

Bailey Beckman led the Panthers with 15 points, with Devyn Kemble and Morgan Johnk adding 12 points apiece. Faith Powell scored 10 points and Hope Wilderman six, with three points from Nicole Rolfes and two from Brooke Halterman capping the scoring.

Kemble cleared seven boards and had four steals and three assists, with Powell grabbing seven caroms and making three steals while Johnk had five rebounds and two thefts. Wilderman distributed six assists and Beckman two, with the latter also making two steals.

Panorama host Earlham tonight and AC/GC Friday. Both are girl/boy WCC sets that will begin with the girls game at 6 p.m.
