Panther softball splits latest pair

MANSON — Panorama responded to an 18-5 loss in six innings to visiting WCAC rival Van Meter Monday with a 9-1 victory over host Northwest Webster in non-conference play.

The Panthers (6-8) were off to a 5-0 start after their first at-bat Tuesday, with the Cougars (4-8) plating their lone run in the home half of the second. One Panther tally in the third and three more in the fifth capped the scoring.

Tyme Boettcher tossed all seven innings for the Panthers and earned her first varsity win. She allowed an unearned run on six hits and two walks. Boettcher hit one batter and struck out another.

Jazmyn Sellers had a single, a double and two RBIs for Panorama, with Shey Storesund adding a double and two RBIs. Other hits came from Jaidyn Sellers, Claire Woodworth, Grace Richey, Grace Webner, Lindsey VanGundy, and Sydney Vogel. VanGundy drove in two runs, with Woodworth, Vogel and Lindy Nelson also recording RBIs.

Statistical information for the Cougars was not available.

Van Meter had a 6-0 lead after four innings, with three Panorama runs scoring in the fifth. The guests then blew the game open with a 12-run sixth, with the hosts able to add only two runs to their total in the bottom of the frame as the game ended an inning early.

Grace Richey, Meredith Woodworth, Cassidy Hoehne and Boettcher all saw time on the rubber for the hosts.

Jaidyn Sellers had three singles and a RBI and Nelson two hits and a RBI.

Macy Blomgren yielded three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five in five innings. Maddie Waldorf allowed two runs on three hits while fanning three in one inning of relief.

Molly Blomgren had a home run, a single, three runs and three RBIs, with Shea Rhodes hitting three singles and a double. She drove in four runs and scored two twice.

Panorama hosts Coon Rapids-Bayard Thursday and then wraps their regular season Friday with a visit from Boyer Valley.
