STUART — Panorama’s basketball teams had a rare Tuesday off, but were in action Monday, winning twice at West Central Valley.

The Panther girls (13-2, 9-1) rallied in the second half to post a 60-54 victory over the Wildcats (8-7, 4-5), with Panorama (10-5, 8-3) relying heavily on reserves to record a 79-32 win over WCV (1-14, 0-10) in the boys tilt.

Panorama held a 22-13 lead after the first quarter of the girls contest, but a game WCV team surged in the second quarter to enter the locker room holding a 33-31 advantage.

A 16-11 edge in the third period helped the guests reclaim the lead, and the visitors led, 47-44, entering the final stanza. The Wildcats were never able to close the gap, with the Panthers hanging on for the win.

Panorama finished with a decided edge at the free throw line, sinking 12-of-17 while WCV converted on just 3-of-6. The Panthers also finished with 17 steals, the defense helping to overcome a poor shooting night (8-of-29) beyond the 3-point arc.

Payton Beckman lead all scorers with 30 points, with fellow Panther Angel Poldberg adding 11 points. Nine points apiece from Laci Rishel and Ella Waddle and an Anna Holloway free throw capped the visitor scoring.

Beckman sank five treys, had six rebounds and seven steals, with Poldberg making a triple and grabbing seven boards. Waddle hit twice behind the arc while snaring seven caroms and making four steals while Rishel had five boards and five thefts.

Sydney Neal (14), Madelyn Jaeger (12), Michaela Jaeger (11), Presley Pivonka (11), and Jenna Merical (6) scored for the home team. Michaela Jaeger had three treys and Madelyn Jaeger two.

Senior point Malachi Peasley missed the boys game for Panorama with an illness, and head coach Nic Peasley using the opportunity of playing a struggling opponent to give plenty of playing time to his reserves.

The move worked, as Drew Taylor led all scorers with 18 points while Ryan Klinge added 13 points. Preston Walker and Kolby Shackelford had eight points apiece and Evan Taylor six, with Lucas Leiferman, Jared Wasson and Wil Jones each scoring five points. Four points apiece from Michael Allen and Dominic Walker and three from Zach Rizzuti completed the scoring ledger.

Klinge hit three 3-pointers and had three assists, with Wasson snaring seven rebounds, Evan Taylor six and Preston Walker and Allen five apiece while Rizzuti provided three steals.

WCV was led by 12 points from Hunter Keller. Spencer Lamb had five points and Jake Egger four, with Carson Powell, Grant Caltrider and Homeen Patel three points apiece while Tate Richter contributed two points.

Panorama will visit Earlham Friday in their next action. The WCAC twin bill will start with the girls game at 6 p.m.
