Panorama's Dominic Walker is safe at first when the ball, curling toward the runner, eludes W-G first baseman Brandon Worley during their game last season. The teams will meet -- for the third time this season -- for the District 13 Final Saturday. The game, at 7 p.m., will be held in Granger.

GRANGER — Being delayed a day by rain mattered little to the eventual outcome of Panorama’s first round playoff win over Southeast Valley, with the Panthers posting a 9-0 win Wednesday.

Drew Taylor struck 12 and allowed only a Sam Hanson single, with a double-play assuring that SEV (5-7) sent the minimum of 21 batters to the plate.

Panorama (11-3) put three runs on the board in the first frame and two in the second to open a quick lead. Two runs in the fourth surrounded single tallies in the third and fifth to account for the winning margin.

Eric Taylor had a single and a double, with Drew Taylor helping himself with a triple and two singles. Luke South added a double and drew a walk, with Brice Taylor hitting a single and a double to go with a RBI-sacrifice while Malachi Peasley had two hits and a sacrifice.

Eric and Drew Taylor each scored twice, as did South, with Peasley also touching the dish. Drew Taylor had three RBIs and Brice Taylor two to lead the team.

Panorama will face WCAC nemesis Woodward-Granger Saturday at 7 p.m. in a return to Granger. W-G ripped WCAC team AC/GC, 11-1, in the second game Wednesday. The Hawks were 4-2 and 1-0 winners over the Panthers in a pair of well-played, tight contests during the regular season.

The winner will advance to Tuesday’s Substate 7 Final at 7 p.m. with the site yet to be determined.
