Panthers reach regional finals with lopsided win

PANORA — In charge throughout, the Panorama girls cagers strolled to a 60-13 win over visiting Shenandoah in their Class 3A Region 1 Semifinal Wednesday.

The victory sends Panorama (19-4) into the Regional Final Saturday against top-ranked and undefeated Cherokee-Washington (21-0), who thumped Atlantic, 63-48, in the other semifinal. The winner Saturday will reach the state tournament. The game will be held in Rockwell City and will tip at 7 p.m.

The Fillies (11-11) were simply no match for the Panthers, and fell into a 26-3 after just one quarter of play. At the half the margin stood at 45-7, with the issue long since decided.

Payton Beckman had 20 points, Angel Poldberg 11, and Shey Storesund 10 to pace the hosts. Laci Rishel had eight points, Ella Waddle five, Jaidyn Sellers three, Tyme Boettcher two, and Mia Waddle one.

Storesund grabbed 11 rebounds and Ella Waddle five, with Rishel making eight steals and Beckman four. Ella Waddle and Rishel distributed six assists apiece, with Beckman providing five.

Sidda Rodewald and Keelee Razee both had four points for the guests, with Allie Eveland scoring three points and Jenna Burdorf two.
