PANORA — The Earlham girls entered Tuesday’s WCAC bout against Panorama with 10 wins, and were determined to make their 11th triumph an upset of the fifth-ranked Panthers.

Earlham entered the fourth quarter trailing only by three points, but Panorama showed they could respond to a challenge and outscored the Cardinals, 12-2, over the final eight minutes to post a 52-39 victory.

Panorama (15-1, 11-0) held leads of 18-11 after one quarter and of 27-23 at the intermission. The fourth quarter began with the hosts out front, 40-37, with the defense strangling the Earlham attack down the stretch, allowing only two points in eight minutes while the Panorama offense added 12 points to produce a 13-point victory.

Bailey Beckman produced 17 points for Panorama, with Morgan Johnk and Devyn Kemble scoring 15 points apiece. Three points from Faith Powell and two from Hope Wilderman capped the Panther scoring.

Beckman had eight rebounds and three steals, with Johnk snatching seven caroms. Kemble made off with four steals, with Nicole Rolfes providing three assists.

After hosting AC/GC Friday, Panorama will be on the road for a pair of girls/boys WCAC contests next week. The Panthers visit Madrid Tuesday, with a trip to Van Meter on the schedule for Jan. 26.
