A large and enthusiastic crowd lined Willis Avenue in Perry Thursday morning for the July Fourth Independence Day parade, kicking off a day of patriotic celebrations.
Entries of all kinds — from flatbed trailers to tractors, walking groups, political candidates and parties, civic organizations and local businesses — lined up at the East Perry Plaza and began their progress at 10 a.m. westward down Willis Avenue before turning southward on W. Fifth Street and skirting the edge of Pattee Park.
Activities continue all day in Pattee Park, including shelter-house BINGO at 1 p.m. and live music at 6 p.m., and celebrations will close with a fireworks display about 9:30 p.m.
