A caller reported a passenger van in the ditch in the 14000 block of Bittersweet Road about 6 p.m. Monday.
A Dallas County Deputy Sheriff responded and determined the vehicle was not occupied.
It is unknown when the van entered the deep ditch on the north side of the granular-surface road or what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.
The vehicle came to rest upright and pointing westward. Tire tracks were seen crossing the road diagonally, suggesting the vehicle might have entered the ditch in reverse.
