Patricia Louise “Pat” Carpe died unexpectedly July 10, 2015, at the age of 75.

Pat is survived by her husband, Jack; son, Brian; brother, Dan Epp; grandchildren, Brandon, Zachary, Heather and Hillary; and great-grandchildren, Cadance, Skyler and Rogue.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Mary Epp; sister, Mary (Epp) Gardiner; and daughter, Stacy.

Pat was born Aug. 19, 1939, and grew up in Des Moines, where she graduated from Lincoln High School.

She married Jack Carpe in 1959.

Shortly after marrying, they moved to Waukee, where they’ve lived ever since. They brought two children, Stacy and Brian, into their home and raised them with unending love.

Her family remembers her as a kind and loving mother and grandmother who was always there for them.

Pat was an active and dedicated member of the Waukee Christian Church, where she participated in the CWF and loved to knit as part of the knitting club. Following her generous and thoughtful ways, she often used her talent of knitting for others. She made scarves for the homeless, stocking caps for new born babies, special purple hats for babies suffering from shaken baby syndrome and gifts for her great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 14 at Iles Funeral Homes-Brandt Chapel in Dallas Center. The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 15 at Waukee Christian Church, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Pat’s life. Gifts in her memory may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America.
