PAWS opens season Saturday with visit to Boone

BOONE, Iowa —  The 2021-2022 swim season started Saturday for the Perry Area Winter Swim (PAWS) team with a visit to Boone, with Manning also attending.

Kilee Hughes (9-10 girls), Lyle Jacobsen (8U boys) and Isaac Winey (11-12 boys) all had five wins for Perry.

Multiple wins were common for Perry, with girls 9-10 racers Isabella Stein and Jessa Hellman and 11-12 swimmers Aleah Karolus and Rylee Robson all had four wins. Triple wins were recorded by Meranda Gruber (11-12), Emily Dowd (15-18) and Ava Jablonski (15-18).

Raelyn Knudsen (8U), Averi Jablonski and Lillian Lucht (both 9-10), Meredith Arganbright (11-12), Elana Baumert (13-14) and Lily Riley and Addison Laughery (both 15-18) all had two wins. Claiming single victories were Sophie Stein, Afton Meyers and Trinity Stonehocker (all 8U) and Lauren Riley (9-10).

Sam Ridnour and Garrett Winey (both 15-18) had quadruple wins for the PAWS boys, with Ray Hughes (8U), Dysen Deardorff (9-10) and Collin Stringham (13-14) posting three wins apiece.

Double-wins were collected by Luke Rowe (8U), Renaud Deardorff, Meyer Chance and Deacan Crawley (all 9-10), Andrew Baumert and Brock Rowe (both 11-12) and Connor Larsen (15-18), with Jadiel Pena-Barnes and Graham Clark (both 8U), Eli McCarty (9-10) and Bryan Anderson and Adrian Quijas (both 11-12) all winning once.

PAWS will return to action Dec. 11 when they host Boone, Grinnell and Knoxville and the McCreary Community Building pool.
