The Perry Area Winter Swim team hosted their final home meet of the season Saturday at the McCreary Community Building pool, with PAWS recording nine new state-qualifying times and five new regional-qualifying times.
New qualifiers for the state meet included Quin Mahler-Moreno (50 breaststroke), Jaylene Karolus (100 backstroke), Dannah Karolus (50 freestyle), Sarah Vaughn (50 backstroke), Andrew Dowd (100 freestyle), Chase Archer (100 freestyle), Amanda Holwegner (50 freestyle) and Haley Vaughn (50 and 100 freestyle).
The quintet of regional qualifiers included Sophia McDevitt (100 freestyle), Drew Storey (50 freestyle), Devon Archer (100 freestyle) and Haley Vaughn (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle).
Caleb Winey (15-18) and Ethan Winey (13-14) both had five wins for the Perry boys, with Devon Archer (15-18) and Dylan Winey (11-12) tallying four wins apiece. Triple wins were recorded by Alex Thompson (15-18) and Andrew Dowd (11-12), with Riese Archer and Cristopher Gonzalez (both 11-12) and Chase Archer (13-14) collecting two wins apiece whiel Garrett Winey (9-10) also posted a victory.
Haley Vaughn (15-18) and Dannah Karolus and Sarah Vaughn (both 13-14) all recording triple wins for the PAWS girls. Amanda Holwegner, Abby Herman and Anna Ridnour (all 13-14) and Jaylene Karolus (11-12) each tallied two wins, with single victories posted by Vivian Gonzalez (15-18), Gracie Phillips and Laura Merz (both 11-12) and Addison Huntington and Sophia McDevitt (both 9-10).
PAWS will compete Friday at Carroll and Feb. 20 at Denison.
