DENISON — The Perry Area Winter Swim team hosted their final regular season meet Saturday at the Denison pool and once again showed great improvement.

Rarely does a team post a high number of personal-best times at the end of a season, but such was not the case for the PAWS speedsters, who set 21 new PB’s in their home pool.

Shekynah Haworth (50 freestyle, 50 backstroke), Sarah Vaughn (50 and 100 free), Dannah Karouls (200 free, 50 breaststroke), Jaylene Karolus (50 and 100 back, 50 breast), Quin Mahler (100 breast), Lilly Riley (50 back), Avery Miner (50 back, 100 free), Emily Dowd (100 free), Haley Vaughn (100 free) Sarah Merz (50 breast) and Laura Merz (50 breast) all had new PB’s for the PAWS girls. In addition, Miner’s new personal-best in the 100 free was a state-qualifying time.

The PAWS boys received new PB’s from Derik Hill (50 free) and from Andrew Dowd (100 breast, 100 free, 100 individual medley).

Lilly Riley and Quin Mahler had single wins Saturday, as did Laura Merz, Jaylene Karolus and Haley Vaughn, while Andrew Dowd was also first to the wall in one race.
