PCSD staff retirees honored, award winners praised

Eight retiring members of the Perry Community School District staff were honored Wednesday for their service to the community life of Perry. The reception was held at the Hotel Pattee and was attended by many fellow teachers, staff members and other well wishers.

Retirees included Sandy Burris, Perry Elementary School para-educator (23 years); Bill Clausen, Perry High School custodian (25 years); Dee Cole, Perry Elementary School kindergarten teacher (20 years); Rebecca Mataya, Perry Middle School special-needs teacher (10 years); Randy Moore, maintenance technician (19.5 years); Rosemarie Navarro, Perry High School ELL teacher (18 years); and Gordon Nolan, Perry Middle School custodian (15 years).

Numerous other PCSD teachers and staff were lauded in the fina;l weeks of the school year for reaching career landmarks.

This year’s five-year honorees were Jill Belgarde, Miranda Brus, Eduardo Diaz, Rachel Grinhaug, Natasha Hegstrom, Reva Hidlebaugh, Chris Hoefer, Beth James, Tina Kenney, Danielle Martin, Kimberly Peterson and Barb Spencer.

Serving the district 10 years were Katie Bryant, Jody Halling, Joel Happel, Patricia Kelleher, Shaun Kruger, Jenny Lansing, Angela Marquez, Rebecca Mataya, Charlotte McDonald, Richard McNeill, Kimberly Swanson, Janiece Thompson, Megan Tingwald and Karen Vargas.

Honored for 15 years of service were Rebecca Anderson, Holly Daniels, Lori Enderson, Mary Hillman, Linda Huntington, Karin Kliewer, Diane Miner, Gordon Nolan and Betty Wenger.

The 20-year honorees were Barbara Chevalier, Dee Cole, David Dearborn, Diane Gibson, Troy Griffith, Kathleen Lipovac, Rebecca Lord, Dan Marburger and Leslie Richmond.

Thanked for 25 years of service were Kaye Adair, Bill Clausen, Kristine Finn and James Richmond.

Barbara Burket has served the students and parents of the Perry Community School District for 30 years.
