The National Weather Service office in Des Moines forecasts periodic thunderstorms continuing through Saturday night, mainly in central and southern Iowa.
A few storms could be strong to severe, the NWS said, with large hail and strong winds as the primary threats. Locally heavy rainfall is also possible and could produce flash flooding in some areas.
Thunderstorms are also likely Sunday, mainly south of U.S. Highway 30. Severe weather is unlikely, but locally heavy rainfall remains possible.
