Perry-area closures for Wednesday multiply

The severe cold has caused numerous cancellations in and around Perry. As a courtesy to our readers, ThePerryNews.com will update this list as information is received.

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has announced that mail delivery will be suspended Wednesday, Jan. 29.

Due to the extended period of arctic cold and dangerous windchills expected, the McCreary Community Building will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 30. Wednesday Senior Fellowship will also be cancelled.

Showtime Dance and Tumbling Studio will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 29 and Wednesday, Jan. 30.

The Woodward Public Library will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 30.

The EDGE youth program at the First Christian Church in Perry is canceled for Wednesday Jan. 30.

The Perry Child Development Center will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 30.

Th Perry Sesquicentennial Planning Committee has rescheduled its meeting to Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 5:30 p.m.

The Perry Public Library will remain open Wednesday, Jan. 30 during regularly scheduled hours as a warming center. Warming centers are places where people can escape the dangerous weather. Heat seekers should expect to find few or no services beyond what is normally available in the library.

Residents should take the proper precautions and cover all exposed skin to avoid frostbite and hypothermia. Please limit time that pets spend outside. If you must travel, motorists should travel with a winter survival kit in the event of vehicular breakdown.
