Perry baseball learns postseason path

The Perry (15-11) baseball team learned they will face Webster City (7-13) at 5 p.m. July 17 in a Class 3A District 4 Semifinal. Boone (17-8) will battle Nevada (9-20) in the 7 p.m. contest, with the winners to meet, in Boone, at 7 p.m. July 20 in the District 4 Final.

District 3 games played in Humboldt include the host Pirates (18-5) facing Algona (13-15) at 7 p.m. July 17 after Gilbert (26-4) battles Iowa Falls-Alden (4-17) in the 5 p.m. game. Those winners will meet in Humboldt at 7 p.m. July 20.

The Substate 2 Final is scheduled for 7 p.m. July 22 in Boone, with the winner earning a spot in the state tournament.

Perry has faced Boone twice this season, falling on the Toreadors home diamond, 15-5, June 4 but avenging that loss with a 5-1 win at Progressive Field June 25. Perry has also faced Gilbert, falling on the road, 5-4, in eight innings June 16.
