Norwalk finished with 331 strokes, three better than ADM (334) to claim the team title Saturday at the Bluejay Invitational.

Gilbert had a 338 at the Perry Golf and Country Club to place third, with Greene County (358) fourth, Perry (392) fifth, Woodward-Granger (397) sixth, and Carlisle (435) seventh.

Tommy Doyle of Gilbert shot a 37-34–71 to earn medalist honors, with Elijah Block of Greene County with runner-up medalist with a round of 39-35–74. Micah Moyer of ADM (39-38–77), Riley Jermeier of Norwalk (37-41–78) and Bryce Malchow of Gilbert (43-37–80) rounded out the top five individuals.

Tanner Duffy led Perry with a 43-47–90, with Luke Rathje carding a 46-48–94 while Connor Nielsen posted a 46-52–98. The team also used the 60-50–110 from Gabe Ridnour, with Emilio Gonzalez (55-55–110) also in action for the host Jays.

“I was happy with our overall finish today, but I know our scores could have been a little lower,” Perry head coach John Fulton said. “Except for Gabe, none of us improved from the front nine to the back, and playing the course a second time means we need to see some improvement coming in.”

The short game, particularly on the greens themselves, was the focus of concern for Fulton.

“I think we need to start putting a little better, and we will make sure to work on that,” he stated. “We can definitely see some improvement in these scores before conference.”

W-G was led by Coby Peters, who shot a 45-43–88, with Nick Brummond providing a 48-46–94. Hunter Pierce (50-54–104) and Matt Buck (55-56–111) also scored for the Hawks, who did not tabulate rounds of 56-57–113 from Max Helbling or of 64-56–123 from Trey Lettow.

Jaden Block (42-42–84), Ben Wilkins (46-48–94) and Curtis Muir (53-53–106) joined Elijah Block in scoring for Greene County, with Logan Brophy (58-62–120) and Travis Giersdorf (58-66–124) also competing.

Joining Moyer in scoring for ADM were Adam O’Connor (44-39–83), Grant Curran (43-43–86) and Matthew West (44-44–88), with Grant Garton (48-42–90) and Ethan Juergens (51-59–110) playing for the Tigers as well.

Ethan Robey (46-39–85) and Matt Laws (49-53–102) added their cards to those of Doyle and Malchow for Gilbert, who discarded rounds of 54-49–103 from Oliver Davis and of 47-60–107 from Ben Simodynes.

Jermeier’s 78 was the low round for team titleist Norwalk. The Warriors also counted rounds of 41-40–81 from Jared Mallett, of 43-43–86 from Tanner Dunn, and of 42-444–86 from Max Sutcliffe. Ethan Verwers (45-45–90) and Kobey Saddoris (48-43–91) did not score for the victors.

Carlisle’s four scores came from Braxton Hinders (4-49–96), Connor Johnson (55-56–111), Ethan Wright (49-63–112) and Vaughn Gibson (52-61–116). Nate Guffy (60-57–117) and Jordan Haugh (69-69–138) also played 18 for the Wildcats.

The Bluejays will join the Jayette golfers Monday in hosting the annual Witmer-Dunphy Invitational. Gilbert, Nodaway Valley and West Central Valley will join Perry for the traditional four-team format.
