ADEL — Host ADM had all four team scores used in the 30’s to score a 148-168 win over Perry in a Raccoon River Conference dual at River Valley Thursday.

“As a team we struggled a little bit,” Bluejay head coach Nick Field said. “We still shot OK, but we need to drop about 12 strokes if we want to have a shot of moving on to districts.

“On a bright side Jack (Brosnahan) shot well again tonight even with a rough start,” he added. “Noah (Wilkening) and Will (Whiton) had great starts but struggled toward the end of their rounds. Overall, I still think we are moving in the right direction.”

The Bluejays were grounded by three holes: the par-4 first, par-4 fourth and par-3 ninth. Of the 12 Perry golfers making the circuit, none fared better than bogey on the first hole, only Kade VanKirk (who finished with a 54) had a par on the fourth and Brosnahan had the only Perry par on the ninth.

Brosnahan started with a double-bogey, but shot par on all but the fourth hole to finish with a three-over 39.

Wilkening had four pars and birdied the fifth, but a triple-bogey on the ninth moved his score to 41, while Whiton had two pars and a birdie on hole two for a 44, with Connor Nielsen tallying three pars to finish with a 44.

Rounds of 54 from VanKirk and of 58 from Ryan Rathje were not used for the team total.

ADM’s Brody Boston shot a one-under 35 for medalist honors, with teammate Joe Vest carding an even-par 36. Tyler Whyle (38) and Ben Sandquest (39) also scored for ADM, which did not count rounds of 40 from Jacob Schumacher or of 42 from Ethan Herron.

Zach Roberts, Tyler Soll and Brody Kimrey each had rounds of 54 for the Bluejay JV, with Tanner Darr adding a 56. Tanner Duffy (67) and Luke Rathje (68) also toured the course for Perry.

The Tiger JV used scores from Matt West (46), Ian Lafollette (46), Logan Lenke (46) and Will Geadelman (50), with Ethan Kaney (57) and Darrin Drake (58) also in action for the hosts.

Both varsity teams return to action Monday with a trip to Boone for the RRC Tournament. Action will begin with an 8:30 a.m. tee time.
