CRESTON — The regular season ended for the Perry boys cagers Thursday with a 61-23 loss to Creston.

The Panthers (9-10) opened a 16-8 lead after one quarter of play and expanded their margin to 35-16 at the break. The Bluejays (0-19) offered very little in the way of second-half offense, scoring just four points in the third quarter to fall into a 52-20 hole, then being outscored 9-3 over the final frame.

Kato Dougan had eight points and Keghan West six for the Jays, with June Rey Reisberg adding four points. Two points apiece from Brendan Ivory and Alex Morales and one from Caden Steva capped the scoring list.

Perry connected on just 4-of-11 free throws in the game, with Creston converting on 10-of-12 attempts.

Kylan Smallwood poured in 31 points for the hosts, with Brance Baker and Cael Kralik adding nine points apiece to fuel to attack.

Perry visits Carroll Monday at 7 p.m. in the first round of the Class 3A postseason.
