ITC Midwest sponsors the annual Lighted Parade, scheduled for Friday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. in downtown Perry.

A favorite Perry tradition continues Friday, Nov. 23 with the Lighted Parade and Holiday Celebration, presented by ITC Midwest. The Perry Chamber of Commerce invites the Perry community to participate in this celebration as an official kick-off of the holiday season.

A number of local merchants will keep their doors open late that night, but all downtown lights will go dark at 7 p.m. in anticipation of the Lighted Parade. Line-up begins at 6 p.m. at the corner of Second Street and Otley Avenue.

The Chamber said prizes will be awarded for best, biggest and brightest floats in the Lighted Parade.

For reasons of safety, parade entrants are asked to refrain from throwing candy to the bystanders.

Following the parade, Santa Claus will pay a special visit to La Poste LLC in order to greet the well-behaved children and spread Christmas cheer to all. Youth carolers will sing at 8 p.m.

The whole downtown will be alive with holiday spirit Friday night, according to the Chamber, with activities including the Carnegie Library Museum’s Festival of Trees from 6-8 p.m., a pancake dinner at the Hotel Pattee and cookie decorating at Frio, both from 5-10 p.m.

The Perry High School Choir will perform at the Hotel Pattee at 8:30 p.m., followed by Genevieve Michele Walczyk, the One-Woman Symphony, at 9 p.m. Hot chocolate will be served at the Perry Perk. The PHS junior class will host a S’mores Fundraiser in Soumas Court, and carolers will be singing joyfully throughout the downtown business and cultural district.
