FORT DODGE — The Perry wrestling team received more points for simply showing up than they did in competition Thursday as the Bluejays scored wins of 48-30 over Carroll and of 58-12 over host Fort Dodge St. Edmond.

Perry defeated the hosts with after receiving nine forfeits, with both teams leaving both the 113 and 120-pound divisions open for double-forfeits. Of the three contested matches the Jays won one, with Jacob Nelson scoring an 11-2 major decision over Noah Carlson at 132.

Rodrigo Guevara claimed a forfeit at 113 against Carroll, and Kaleb Olejniczak was given a forfeit at 126, his second of the evening.

The Bluejays won six matches by pin to total their 48 points. Nelson had a pin at 132 and Zach Stewart a pin at 145, with Cole Snyder (170), Cesar Ramirez (182), Jonathan Silva (195) and Alex Tapia (285) also winning by fall.

Angel Escobar (220) and Riece Graham (106) were in action twice for the Jays, but could not come up with a win. Jered Narber (152) and Erick Funez (160) were the two Perry matmen who finished 1-1 with wins by forfeit.

Perry will be in action Saturday at the Waukee Duals and will then be off until joining Van Meter/Earlham for a triangular at Bondurant-Farrar Jan. 4.
