Perry freshman Jaylene Karolus, seen here running in the Sept. 27 Leon Fox Invite, was top finisher for the Jayettes at Thursday's Raccoon River Conference meet in Adel, earning All-RRC honors by placing 10th overall.

ADEL — Wet weather over the span of several days forced Monday’s Raccoon River Cross Country meet to be postponed until Thursday. Ballard was to serve as host, but the soggy conditions in Huxley pushed the meet to Adel, and to a hastily-designed course around the ADM high school and athletic facility grounds, ending with two laps around the track.

Freshman Jaylene Karolus provided the highlight of the meet for the Perry teams by earning All-RRC honors after finishing 10th overall in 20 minutes, 56.1 seconds.

Ballard was the team titleist with 23 points, with Carlisle second at 57. ADM and Perry had tied for fifth at 135, but ADM won the tiebreaker as the sixth Tiger to finish crossed 39th, two spots better than the sixth Jayette. Winterset (78) was fourth and Bondurant-Farrar (120) fifth, with Boone (201) seventh. Carroll does not compete in either boys or girls cross country.

Ainsley Erzen won the girls race in 18:33 for Carlisle, with Ballard’s Ellie Twedt second in 19:31.2.

Kailey Crawford was the second Jayette finisher, crossing 19th in 22:51.7. Molly Lutmer (33rd, 24:03.7), Kennedy Tunink (36th, 24:24.1) and Cris Gomez (37th, 25:03.2) were the other scorers, while Hannah Peterson (41st, 25:51.5) and Kanyshai Abdieva (43rd, 26:42.9) also running for the varsity.

Angela Hernandez (27:07.1), Fatima Rodriguez (31:14.2) and Alondra Avila (34:03.2) ran the course for the Perry junior varsity, who did not have the five runners required for a team score.

Carlisle’s 27 points won the boys title, with Bondurant-Farrar (73) second, Ballard (76) third and ADM (92) fourth. Winterset was fifth at 109 and Boone sixth at 177 while Perry finished seventh at 202.

ADM sophomores Nate Mueller and Ethan Juergens were 1-2 in 16:05.1 and 16:39.1, respectively.

Mohamed Abdelnabi was the 36th runner in the 69-harrier race to finish, leading Perry in 19:22. Eduardo Sanchez, Eli Noble, Mario Cruz and Ethan Miller were 40-41-42-43 in 19:32.1, 19:51.7, 19:53 and 20:06.3. Hayden McFarland (44th, 20:11.7) and Tomas Lopez (46th, 20:25.7) also competed for the varsity.

The Bluejay JV had three runners and thus no team score. Tanner Burgin (21:26.9), Miguel Constanza (21:41) and Tony Burgos (23:01.9) competed for Perry.

Perry will run Thursday at Glenwood in a Class 3A State Qualifying Meet. The top two teams (12 will be in action at the event) and first 15 individuals will advance to the Oct. 27 state meet at Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge.

Perry senior Mario Cruz leads a pack during the Leon Fox Invite Sept. 27.
