The Perry Elks Lodge 407 is lending a hand to Perry Scout Troop 127 in acquiring training in leadership.

The Elks made a recent donation of $600 to Troop 127 to assist in sending two Perry Scouts to National Youth Leadership Training Aug. 1-7 at the Mitigwa Scout Reservation in Boone County.

The National Youth Leadership Training is a six-day course in leadership skills that Scouts can use in their home troops and in other situations demanding leadership.

The leadership training is open to Scouts who are at least 13 years old and hold a rank of First Class and Venturers who are at least 14, or 13 and have completed the eighth grade, and have long-term camping experience. All participants must have completed Troop Leader Training or Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews within their scouting unit.
