The Perry Area Emergency Food Pantry received a large delivery of diapers right in the midst of last Friday’s snowstorm.

“Our recent new refugees are young families, and they’re in need of these supplies,” said Perry Emergency Food Volunteer Coordinator Lois Hoger.

Hoger said she landed a grant from the emergency DECAT carryover fund, which is made available to family-service and child-welfare groups with community-based, family-centered and preventive programs, such as the Perry Emergency Food Pantry.

“Our pantry is often without certain diaper sizes or, at times, has no diapers at all,” Hoger said. “The Food Pantry volunteers and their shoppers are thankful this need could be provided. The diapers will be repackaged so all families will benefit.”
