Perry’s two largest retail grocers have resumed some pandemic store hours first introduced in March in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fareway announced Tuesday its stores and meat markets will be open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice. The shorter hours take effect Friday, Nov. 27.

The first hour of shopping, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., will continue to be reserved for those Fareway customers who are considered high-risk shoppers, including people who are 65 and over, expecting mothers, those living with a serious chronic medical condition and anyone with an underlying medical condition that increases the susceptibility to serious illness from COVID-19.

The Perry Hy-Vee has also restarted its reserved shopping hour for high-risk customers in response to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases.

The reserved hour will be offered at all Hy-Vee locations from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., Monday through Friday, and is dedicated for these customers:

  • Age 60 and older
  • Expectant mothers
  • Customers with an underlying health condition(s) that makes them more susceptible to serious illness

All other shoppers are asked to please respect the hour each store has reserved for the community’s at-risk customers.
