The Perry Fine Arts Director Cathy Clark welcomes the crowd to the 50th annual Fourth of July Musical Extravaganza Friday afternoon at the First United Methodist Church.

The Perry Fine Arts hosted its 50th annual Fourth of July Music Extravaganza and Homemade Ice Cream Social Friday afternoon at the First United Methodist Church of Perry.

The event showcased its usual lineup of notable local talents:

  • Lou Hoger sang “The Star-Spangled Banner'” by Francis Scot Key.
  • William Elias read “Olde Glory” by William Driver.
  • Randall “Doc” McCaulley played “Shout to the Lord” by Darlene Zschech and “American Anthem” by Gene Scheer.
  • Katie Villalobos played “To God Be the Glory” by Fanny Crosby.
  • Steve and Sean Parnell played “Grandma’s Featherbed” by Jim Connor and “Daddy Sang Bass” by Carl Perkins.
  • Jim Caufield played “Slow Drag (Cincinnati Flow Rag)” by the Rev. Gary Davis and “Calliope Rag” by James Scott.
  • The Perry Bible Praise Band played “God Bless the U.S.A.” by Lee Greenwood and “Wayfaring Stranger” by John R. Cash.
  • Iris Coffĩn and Jean Kestler played “America the Beautiful” by Katharine Lee Bates.
  • Rick Fazel played “Lemon Tree” by Will Holt and “puff the Magic Dragon” by Peter Yarrow.
  • Olivia and Isaiah Christensen played “Moon River” by Henry Mancini and “Feather Theme” from “Forest Gump” by Alan Silvestri.
  • Ron Bartelt played “You’re a Grand Old Flag” by George M. Cohen and “Stars and Stripes Forever” by John Phillips Sousa.
  • Dave Menz sang “Impossible Dream” by Mitch Leigh and “He’s Alive” by Don Fransico.
  • David Cannon played “Amazing Grace Medley.”

A community sing on “America the Beautiful” and “Puff the Magic Dragon” raised all voices and let all talents converge.

The ice cream social, with cake and cookies, topped off the Perry tradition now in its 50th year.
