The Perry Fine Arts Series, which has been bringing sweetness and light to Perry for many years, recently received a $900 funding check from the Perry Chamber of Commerce’s hotel-motel tax revenues.

Cathy Clark, director of the Perry Fine Arts Series, accepted the funds on behalf of the group.

Perry Fine Arts concerts are always free and open to the public. The fine arts group subsists mainly on donations, with support from organizations such as the Perry Chamber of Commerce also sustaining.

The next event is the Perry Fine Arts Series in Sunday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m., when the Heartland Marimba Quartet plays in the Perry Performing Arts Center at 1200 18th St. in Perry.

Local music lovers who enjoyed last fall’s performance by percussion soloist Matthew Coley will have their pleasures quadrupled at Sunday’s show, which promises a varied program of new modern works composed for the marimba quartet.

The Perry Performing Arts Center is handicapped accessible.
