Perry firefighters battle Seventh Street blaze Tuesday

The Perry Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire at 1717 Seventh St. shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday and quickly brought the fire under control.

No injuries were reported, and at least one house pet was rescued alive by firefighters, as seen in video footage captured by Tom Wolf of the PVFD.

The cause of the fire in the 73-year-old single-story house in under investigation. Flames could be seen in the northeast room of the structure, and smoke was escaping at all points.

The property is owned by Beverly Devilbiss of Bagley, according to county records.

The Perry Police Department, Perry First Responders, Dallas County Sheriff’s office and Dallas County EMS also responded to the afternoon blaze.
