The Perry Area Food Pantry at 3000 Willis Ave. is serving Perry-area clients during the viral pandemic, and demand did not slacken Thursday.
“People were lined up waiting when we got here,” said a pantry volunteer. About a dozen clients were waiting in line at 1:30 p.m.
Under the pantry’s temporary pandemic arrangements, shoppers no longer pick the items from the shelves themselves. They fill out a request sheet, and their orders are filled by volunteers and delivered to the customers’ vehicles.
Perry Food Pantry Site Manager Lou Hoger was handing out request sheets and screening clients Thursday in the vestibule, where the recommended six-foot social-distancing space was preserved.
The pantry hours are Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Thursdays from 1-3:30 p.m.
