The cancellation of the fall sports seasons for the Des Moines Public Schools temporarily threw proverbial wrenches into scheduling works for all of their opponents.
Perry was to have hosted Des Moines Hoover for a Class 3A District 8 football game Oct. 2, but was forced to find a replacement for the Huskies. Mission accomplished.
The Bluejays (0-4) will make their first-ever appearance at Madrid Oct. 2 to face the Class A Tigers.
Madrid (1-2) opened the season with a 49-6 loss at Woodward-Granger before falling, 45-6, to visiting South Hamilton. They were 21-19 winners over visiting Nodaway Valley Sept. 11, but COVID-19 issues forced the team to cancel a Sept. 18 game with Wayne and a Sept. 25 game with Earlham (who replaced Madrid with ADM, who had been slated to face Hoover).
Kick off will be at 7 p.m.
