Perry's Natalie Martinez (10) watches as this shot against Des Moines North last year sails over the bar. The senior set a new school record with seven goals Friday at Greene County.

BOONE — Visiting Perry jumped to a 2-0 lead after just 15 minutes of action Thursday and never looked back, eventually claiming a 5-0 win over Boone in Raccoon River Conference girls soccer.

Perry (3-1, 2-1) was on the board in the 13th minute when junior Natalie Martinez scored an unassisted goal. She fired a shot that ricocheted off the Boone keeper and bounced into the goal just two minutes later for a 2-0 Jayette lead.

Boone (0-3, 0-3) was unable to stem the tide, as Martinez was back at it in the 23rd minute to complete her hat trick with her third unassisted goal of the contest. The junior now has eight goals in four contests this season.

Cris Gomez pushed the score to 4-0 at the intermission with an unassisted goal in the 37th minute of play. The score was the first in the varsity career for the freshman.

Gomez was also involved in the final Perry goal, assisting on Syd Guerra’s score in the 68th minute that set the final tally.

Selena Garcia was largely untested in goal, making two saves for Perry to preserve the shutout.

The Jayette junior varsity was also victorious. Playing just one 40-minute half, Perry emerged with a 2-0 win on goals from Lexie Welch in the 17th minute and from Beyonce Gonzalez in the 22nd minute. Odaly Perla had one save in goal for the guests.

Perry travels to Winterset today for the game rescheduled from earlier this season.
