Perry girls golf bows out at regional tourney

CARROLL — A season spent gaining experience for all but senior Delaney Eiteman ended for the Perry girls golfers at a Class 3A Regional Monday.

Gilbert and Carroll advanced to the state tournament with team scores of 358 and 373, respectively, with Nevada (380) just missing moving on. Creston was fourth at 398 and Ballard fifth at 421, with Winterset (422), ADM (445), Denison-Schleswig (450), North Polk (472), Webster City (489), Perry (496) and Greene County (519) also in the field.

Eiteman led Perry with a 60-54–114 in her final prep appearance. Also scoring for the Jayettes were MaryLou Ledesma (61-63–124), Kennedy Tunink (61-64–125) and Bryce Eastman (68-65–133). Ainsley Marburger (78-60–138) and Jayna Kenney (90-62–152) also made the circuit for head coach Joel Happel’s club.

Advancing as individual qualifiers were Gilbert’s Britta Snyder (71), Nevada’s Emma Griffin (80), Creston’s Rylie Driskell (82) and Winterset’s Natalie Drake (89). Carroll’s Josie Pettitt (90), Ballard’s Lauren Smith (92), Carroll’s Mallory Schultes (92) and Gilbert’s Alli Austin (92) also qualified.
