Greene County left the Perry Golf and Country Club with a win in a girls triangular Friday.

The Rams fired a 222 to slip past Perry, who posted a 240. Des Moines Christian was third with a 253.

Perry coach Joel Happel said his team was facing several challenges at the event.

“Our numbers were down again tonight, he said. “Hannah Roberts was ill and did not play. Also, our number one player, Sarah Sweet, played but was obviously still not completely recovered from her the cold that she has had for the past week.

“That being said we actually had some better scores, with two players shooting their personal bests,” Happel continued. “Laurann Perry cut eight shots off her previous low with a 54. Her birdie on number one was the highlight of the day for her. I was very happy to see Laurann score so well as she is a senior.”

Happel also noted the improved play of freshman Caley Hager, who carded a 59.

“Caley is hitting more and more good shots every round she plays,” he said.

Skylar Cunningham had a 63 and Sweet a 64 to complete the scoring for Perry.

Greene County had a 48 from Rachel Danielson, a 56 from Mackenzie Denhardt, a 58 from Lakota Larson and a 60 from Nicole Ronher to create the winning total.

Maddie Cappel (51), Katie Kruelik (66), Caroline Dunn (66) and Jessie Reimenschneider (70) scored for DMC.
