Perry grade 7-8 boys track teams compete in Nevada

NEVADA — The Bluejay middle school thinclads visited Nevada Tuesday, with the grade 7 Jays finishing second and the grade 8 Jays fifth in their respective eight-team fields.

The Perry seventh graders earned seven victories in their half of the meet, with Osea Toboneye involved in three wins.

Toboneye won the 200 in 33.47 seconds and the 400 in 1 minute, 1.11 seconds before joining Ernest Seaton, Luis Guzman and Tyler Fessler in claiming the 4×400 in 4:24.59.

Seaton won the 100 (13.06), with Wilber Ramirez-Peraza, Amos Munoz, Tomas Lopez and Ever Tobar winning the 4×200 (1:56.39), Erick Funez, Munoz, Lopez and Tobar the 800 medley (2:03.65) and Tobar, Fessler, Kato Dougan and Collin Malmberg the 1600 medley (4:33.44).

Fessler and Emanuel Cardenas were 2-6 in the 800 in 2:44.4 and 3:02.11, respectively, with the foursome of Guzman, Dougan, Lopez and Carlos Vargas second in the 4×800 in 10:58.87 to round out the list of winners and runner-up finishers for the Jays.

The grade 8 Jays had a trio of runner-up placings.

Justin Stammer was second in the 100 (12.82) and Kaleb Olejniczak second in the 400 (59.36) with the pair joined by Jered Narber and Jonathan Flores for the runner-up spot in the 4×200 in 1:53.42.
