The Perry Bluejay and Jayette cross country teams make a crosstown trek Wednesday as part of their practice session.

After spending 90 minutes in the weight room at the Perry High School, the harriers ran to Otley Avenue, down the long east-west corridor to Pattee Park, and then on the dog park on the southern edge of the recreational area before returning to PHS by a reverse route.

Perry is under the guidance of Ryan Marzen, who has taken the head coaching position for both squads. He is assisted by Jennifer Sprung.

The cross country season begins for Perry Sept. 4 with a visit to the Winterset Invitational. Perry will run in four additional meets before hosting the Leon Fox Invitational at the Perry Golf and Country Club Sept. 27.
