Perry Junior Jays send four to AAU, four others to Super Pee Wee tourneys

DES MOINES — Four girls represented the Perry Junior Jays at the AAU youth state wrestling tournament at the Wells Fargo Arena in Sunday.

Eighth graders Taylor Atwell and Hailey Peterson were joined by seventh grader Kassidy Atwell and fourth grader Kalley Whelchel in participating at the large tourney.

Four other Perry youth will travel to Young Arena in Waterloo Mar. 2-3 for the Super Pee Wee state tourney.

Second graders Hayden Splendore and Brady Welch will hit the mats for the Junior Jays. They will be joined by teammate and first grader Cash Baxter and kindergarten student Ryker Norman.

The Junior Jays are coached by Jeremy Atwell, Mike Peterson, Danny Splendore, Kyle Baxter, Shaun Welch, Matt Norman, T.J. Maylum, Nick Fields, Daniel Britton and Jay Nelson.
